Run Logan Run Biography
‘LV:HRD’ is the second instalment of ‘Prey/LV/Ears’, a new trilogy of EPs from Bristolian Nu Jazz heavyweights 'Run Logan Run’. Constituting the project’s first release since 2022’s ‘Nature Will Take Care Of You’, LV:HRD steps boldly away from the big band aesthetic of the previous record. Having travelled a journey of dismantlement and subsequent rebuild,
bandleader and saxophonist 'Andrew Neil Hayes’ assembled a new crew of collaborators including two of his oldest friends - London based vocalist extraordinaire ‘BB.JAMES’ and the ultra elusive producer ‘Jonathan Wolf’. The resulting musical landscape pulses with industrial beats and sub frequency vibrations, soaring melodies and auto tuned saxophone.

At the forefront of Bristol’s contribution to the pulsing UK jazz scene come Run Logan Run, an alchemical fusion of surging polyrhythms and screaming guttural saxophone. Guided by the searching and fearless tone of founding member Andrew Neil Hayes’s saxophone, the band has earned a reputation for explosive live performances, full of raw power and visceral energy. The project continues to evolve a line-up that has featured many of the city’s most innovative musicians, including drummers Dan Johnson and Matt Brown, producer Riaan Vosloo, and vocalist Annie Gardiner.
Following the release of 2022’s ‘Nature Will Take Care Of You’ and subsequent 2023 UK tour, Hayes put the live show on hiatus and embarked on a journey of reflection and exploration in the studio. “I was desperate for time and space to create new sounds, free from the restraint of expectation”. He emerges in 2025 reinvigorated with a bold new vision and a brand new clutch of boundary pushing collaborators, including London based vocalist extraordinaire BB James, elusive producer Jonathan Wolf (blink and you’ll miss him) and Bristol’s most in demand drummer Ryan Thrupp.
RLR has toured the UK extensively, performed at key European Jazz Festivals, and received support from BBC Introducing, PRS Foundation, Montreux Jazz Artist’s Foundation and BBC Radio 6 Music.
