About this concert
City Winery NYC presents A New York Evening With Aloe Blacc live on Wednesday, August 6th at 7:30 PM! Moderated by Executive Director of Music at Billboard Jason Lipshutz The GRAMMY Museum and City Winery are thrilled to welcome GRAMMY Award-nominated artist Aloe Blacc for an intimate conversation about his latest album, Stand Together, with a performance to follow, at City Winery in NYC. Aloe Blacc is one of the many artists to be featured in the GRAMMY Museum’s New York City program series, which includes bringing a slate of the GRAMMY Museum’s renowned GRAMMY In The Schools Education Programs and Public Programs to the East Coast. “A New York Evening With…” is generously supported by the Dawn and Brian Hoesterey Family Foundation. ABOUT ALOE BLACC GRAMMY nominated Aloe Blacc has long been a voice for the people—a globally recognized singer, songwriter, and changemaker whose music uplifts, empowers, and unites. Best known for genre-defying anthems like the international smash “Wake Me Up” with Avicii, anthemic “The Man”, and the timeless “I Need A Dollar”, Blacc continues to inspire through sound and purpose. In 2024, he was honored as one of Worth Magazine’s Worthy 100, recognizing his influential work at the intersection of music and social impact. Now, in 2025, Aloe Blacc returns with his most mission-driven work to date: a new full-length album titled Stand Together. Featuring standout singles “Don’t Go Alone” and “One Good Thing,” the album draws deep inspiration from real-life stories—those of nonprofit founders, humanitarians, and everyday heroes dedicated to making lasting change in their communities. Stand Together is both a celebration and a call to action, with Blacc’s signature soul and sincerity woven into every note. Following the album’s release, Aloe is back on the global stage, embarking on a sweeping tour across the U.S. and Europe. The run kicked off with a sold-out residency at New York’s legendary Blue Note, and will continue spanning festivals and venues through October 2025. This October also marks a milestone in Aloe’s career: the 15-year anniversary of his breakthrough album Good Things, and its iconic single “I Need A Dollar”—a song that remains a rallying cry for working people everywhere. With powerful new music, renewed purpose, and a voice as vital as ever, Aloe Blacc stands at the center of culture and conscience in 2025—reminding the world that one good song really can change everything.

I heard about Aloe Blacc coming to City Winery when I was at the Avery Sunshine show earlier this year. I was so excited to finally see him in person, I got my solo ticket the minute they announced the tickets were available! Picked my tall table in the back, roomier and even planned the meal I was going to eat the night before. The guest sitting at my table ordered her solo ticket too, we met that night and hit it off, laughing and taking pics of AB✨during his fabulous performance. Ordered a Ritual mock-tail, CEASAR salad with shrimp and the delicious Citrus cake. The salad was cool, crisp and cheesy, the shrimp grilled and flavorful and the cake was the sweet treat that topped off the delicious meal. The music and sing along was inspiring and the atmosphere was a true A. I. M. vibe. We were able to get signed CDs, t-shirts, and a selfie with Aloe Blacc‼️. Can’t wait for the next City Winery event.

Aloe Blacc Biography

Raised by Panamanian immigrants in Southern California, Blacc grew up around the sounds of salsa, merengue, & cumbia. He initially developed his own taste by throwing himself into hip-hop before trying out his soulful voice to other ends. Across three albums, his sound evolved and grew, finding a pocket that reflects the long and beautiful history of American soul with timeless, descriptive songwriting that speaks to the broad range of human experience, from platonic love to love for humanity, from politics to aspiration.

“Rather than a genre, my music follows a theme I call A.I.M.: affirmation, inspiration, and motivation,” he explains. Beloved hits like “I Need a Dollar,” “The Man,” and “Wake Me Up,” with Avicii, may not fall under the same musical umbrella, but they’re united by how they make the listener feel. That’s Blacc’s wheelhouse, the place where he excels. “After so many opportunities to talk about my music and not feel comfortable saying, ‘I’m a pop artist’ or ‘I’m a folk artist,’ I had this realization. My songwriting genre is thematic.”
