Wic Whitney Biography

Like cherry-picking treats for the ultimate candy bag, Wic Whitney packs his music with energy, attitude, and emotion—drawing inspiration from all genres and eras. His debut album Foolhardy [Nettwerk Music Group], set for 2025, reflects what he calls a “genreful” vision: a blend of styles anchored not to a sound, but to a feeling.

Raised in Little Rock on a diverse soundtrack—from The Temptations to OutKast—Wic brings a lifetime of influences to the table. After studying acting in Chicago, he introduced himself with the Tide Pools EP (2017) and built momentum with a series of 2023–2024 projects, including The Sunshine Couch, Afternoon Tea, and Another Cup. His 2024 breakout “Oolong” has crossed 1 million Spotify streams.

In 2025, he sets the tone with singles like “Bubble Rap,” “Spend The Time,” and now, “Pocket.” Produced by Trevor Brown and Zaire Williams, “Pocket” blends loose blues guitar with a rock cadence and a chantable chorus: “The world cannot make promises…You still have my heart, keep it in your pocket.” It’s a nostalgic coming-of-age song about the imperfection and distance in relationships.

Wic’s range is on full display with songs like “Kitty,” a sarcastic, horn-laced groove responding to critics with swagger and wit, and “Baka,” a high-energy, no-rules banger produced by Miles Falkenstein. On “Indie Film,” he mixes reggae, crooning, and satire in a critique of L.A.’s dream-factory culture.

“Pasithea” stands as his most emotional offering, named after the Greek goddess of dreams. It’s a tender plea to reconnect with lost friends in sleep: “Tell my friends to come back in my deepest dreams.”

Whether absurd or achingly honest, Wic’s music is packed with feeling. “As long as people feel something when they hear it,” he says, “then I did my job.”
