About this concert
Loaded with high-energy, high-octane guitar rock; Guitar Monsters is an explosive show. This great line-up features 3 Grammy nominees, 2 New England Music Hall of Fame inductees, 1 Boston Music Hall of Fame inductee and a legendary Southern rock icon. Jon Butcher If it seems like the name Jon Butcher has been popping up in the Boston area for a long time; IT HAS! Grammy Nominee Butcher has been a vital part of the local music scene for many years. His significant contributions were recognized with his induction into the New England Music Hall of Fame in 2025. Between the early days of Johanna Wild, Jon Butcher Axis, Barefoot Servants, and time performing on Experience Hendrix tours, he is one of the most influential performers in Boston. He’s toured the country opening for the J. Geils Band, Def Leppard, Rush, the Scorpions, and INXS. Johnny A Not every kid in town who falls in love with music will be successful or even advance to the level of being able to pursue it as a passion. One Saugus (MA.) High School grad had that great fortune, more commonly referred to around the world as Johnny A. did and continues to do so. Over his career, Johnny has performed as both a solo artist and a member of other bands. Notably as a member of Peter Wolf’s band (J. Geils frontman) and Rock & Roll HOF band, the Yardbirds, not to mention his projects From A. to Beatles and Beck-Ola All this is to say that Johnny A. has the chops. Spanning three full-length albums, Johnny A. has earned a Grammy Award nomination, the honor of Boston Music Awards, “Blues Artist of the Year 2010,” and a spot in the revered Boston Music Hall of Fame. Chris Anderson As a mainstay on the Southern Rock scene since the 1970s, Anderson has played, toured, or written songs in groups such as Grinderswitch, Lucinda Williams, The Allman Brothers, Bad Company, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr, Steven Stills, Johnny Neel, Neil Carswell, and many others. Anderson moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the mid-90s, becoming a member of the Multi-Platinum country group Blackhawk for years. His Debut Album “Old Friend” has been described as a cross between Stevie Ray Vaughan Eric Clapton, and Duane Allman. The New York Times described it as one of the 10 “best albums you’ve never heard”. Rolling Stone Magazine gave it Five Stars. “ But he will always be remembered as a member of Southern rock’s legendary “Florida Guitar Army” as a member of the Outlaws from 1986-1989 and 2005-2018. James Montgomery He came to town, from his home in Michigan, to get an education and play a little music. He presented a fresh image, a powerful sound, great backing musicians and a “party ‘til you drop” stage persona. Instead of putting that education to use, he opted to stay and become one of New England’s best-known performers through the 70’s and 80’s. Montgomery consistently filled venues throughout the region and was renowned for his extensive performances lasting over two hours. With a resume second to none, Montgomery has performed in venues from Gilette Stadium to the LA Forum, opening for acts such as the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Zappa, Dickey Betts, Procol Harum, Sly & the Family Stone and Bruce Springsteen. James has performed with Aerosmith, Billy Squier, J, Geils, Allman Brothers, Patti LaBelle, the Blues Brothers, and was a long-time member of the Johnny Winter Band, where he was a Grammy nominee along with induction into the New England Music Hall of Fame in 2021. Backing up this line-up will be: AJ Vallee (Southern Rock All-Stars, The Peacheaters, Starr Faithfull and One Night of Queen) Tim Archibald (Barry Goudreau’s Engine Room, Peter Wolf’s House Party 5, NEW MAN and the American Vinyl All Star Band, with Barry Goudreau and Skunk Baxter) Todd Farland (Nasty Habits) With a line-up like this you can expect some classic Montgomery songs, Jon Butcher Axis, Outlaws, Hendrix, Johnny Winter and Yardbirds along with a mix of some great R&B classics. Rolling Thunder is one of the NH Chapters of the national organization Rolling Thunder® that is noted for their involvement in the problem of POW/MIA; but the organization has grown too much more than that. It addresses military personnel's post-service issues like PTSD and addiction, as well as other matters such as toy drives. All worthy causes: these former warriors find a way to continue in their mission to assist those in need. This show is being produced by Rockin’ 4 Vets/Alive & Kicking Productions, which produces Vets benefit concerts throughout New England to support organizations assisting Vets on issues related to PTSD, addiction, and homelessness.

Johnny A. Biography
JOHNNY A.
“Just Me …and My Guitars”
For nearly 20 years Johnny A. has traveled the world effortlessly gliding through, bending and blending, musical genres to deliver his own unique style of instrumental guitar music.
To quote the London Free Press (Johnny A. is...) "a musician who resists easy categorization and that's always cool by us."
And as JAZZIZ Magazine so perfectly stated, "Johnny A. has eclectic musical vision and the skills to realize it… A.’s music is both accessible and sophisticated."
Never content with complacency, and always up for a challenge, Johnny again takes an adventurous musical left turn to present his distinct, instrumental guitar approach for the first time in a completely “solo” intimate atmosphere with “Just Me…And My Guitars”.
With strong emphasis on melody and arrangements from the British songbook of the 60s, he will be bringing his fluid guitar style to select venues all across the United States and beyond.
The evening promises to be a very special "living room experience" with some of Johnny's favorite songs and stories all of which have molded him into the musician and person he is today.
It's no wonder that Gibson and Epiphone guitars have honored him with not one but three signature model guitars designed to his specifications.
Don't miss this rare and unique opportunity to see Grammy Nominated, Boston Music Hall of Fame Inductee and one of America's finest instrumental guitarists, Johnny A., up close and personal.
What other people are saying…
“Johnny A. has always had such a musical approach to the way he plays the guitar. He arranges his parts sort of like a symphony orchestrator, covering counterpoints and filling out harmonic structures. The tone in his fingers is always comfortable and friendly and a delight to feel. He is a thoroughly accomplished and powerfully effective guitarist”.
3 time Grammy Award winning Artist - Steve Vai
“Johnny A. is a light in a sea of guitar players. His unique and soulful full approach and his ‘ one man band’ chops are peerless. Melody - tone taste and a trick bag of surprises and a killer choice of material makes him a must see!”
5 time Grammy Award winning Artist - Steve Lukather - TOTO
“Johnny A. is one of the finest guitarist’s I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to, and I always learn something when we get together. He is a consummate musician on a world class level. I’ll put him toe to toe with anyone!”
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee - Elliot Easton, The Cars
“Johnny A. is one of the finest guitar players on this planet...In a league of his own to be sure!”
Bobby Whitlock, Derek & The Dominos
“Devotion to melodies, tight dynamics and succulent tones perfectly temper Johnny’s balance of fire and ice.” - Guitar World
“ Johnny A.'s magic crosses over because, like [Bill] Frisell, he doesn't just play guitar - he plays music.” - Premiere Guitar Magazine
“Johnny A. lets his guitar speak for him with eloquence and spirit.” - Washington Post
