With a career of over six decades, he has become the most recorded bassist in jazz history, recording over 2200 albums, and worked alongside so many of the jazz greats greats including Miles Davis, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, Bobby Timmons, Eric Dolphy, Cannonball Adderley, Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, and Jaki Byard, as well as Roberta Flack, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Bette Midler, Jon Batiste and Aretha Franklin to name a few. The epitome of class and elegance, Ron Carter’s incredibly inventive playing and contributions to jazz music are only some of the reasons he remains at the top today. Ron Carter (born May 4, 1937, Ferndale, Michigan) is an American jazz bassist. His unique sound and great swing have made him a sought after studio man — his appearances on over 2,500 albums make him one of the most-recorded bassists in jazz history. He has recorded with artists ranging from Miles Davis and Wynton Marsalis to A Tribe Called Quest.
