Maddox Jones Biography
Maddox Jones is a singer-songwriter from Northampton, UK, whose musical journey began in a unique setting—growing up in a commune with limited access to the outside world. This isolation led him to pick up a guitar at the age of seven and start writing songs. “Music has always been an escape for me, a way to make sense of the world,” he reflects.
Before embarking on his solo career, Maddox was the frontman of the indie-rock band The Departure, achieving four Top 40 hits and sharing stages with iconic bands such as The Killers and Placebo. He later explored electronic pop with the project Born Stranger.
In 2020, Maddox launched his solo career with the critically acclaimed EP Headspace, which reached #4 on the iTunes UK Singer-Songwriter chart. His debut album, Believe It (2022), showcased his versatility, blending synth-pop with heartfelt lyrics. The follow-up album, Waiting for the World to Turn (2024), delved deeper into themes of personal growth and reflection, featuring collaborations with artists like Livvy Lauren.
Maddox’s music has garnered support from BBC Radio, iHeart Radio, and national TV appearances across the UK. His single “Change My Number” was praised for its soulful vocals and polished production. In 2024, he released “England Together” in support of England’s Euros 2024 campaign, raising funds for the mental health charity Head in the Game.
Beyond his music, Maddox is a strong advocate for mental health awareness, visiting over 50 schools across the UK to give motivational speeches and encourage young people’s artistry. His efforts earned him the title of Songwriter of the Year at the Northamptonshire Local Music Awards.
In October 2025, Maddox is set to embark on his first solo headline tour across the UK, including a hometown gig at The Black Prince in Northampton. This tour follows support slots with artists like Will Young and Lucy Spraggan, marking a significant milestone in his solo career.
