About this concert
We're excited to announce that we have secured the services of rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Chantel McGregor - one of the most exciting musicians in the UK - to play at JJJ on Saturday 8th November! A female guitar prodigy, Chantel was told by a major label that she had a "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!". Wisely ignoring their comments, Chantel has since enjoyed many years of touring and festival appearances, along with multiple album releases which show her gradual transition to a harder, bigger and bolder rock sound with progressive influences. Imagine the tone of Robin Trower, the inspiration of Hendrix, the influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the energy of Bonamassa, the intensity of Walter Trout and the haunting vocal of Stevie Nicks all rolled into one. Chantel has had a career of winning awards and has recently been interviewed for features on Sky News, BBC Radio Five Live and BBC Radio Four. We're expecting very high-demand for this show and so we'd recommending booking early. Ticket: £18.00 (+Fees) online | £20.00 on the door (subject to capacity) Ticketing Information: Tickets are for ?general admission? giving you access to any available seating or standing areas. There is no assigned seating, any seating that is available can be taken on a first come first served basis. Last entry to Joe Joe Jims is at 10.30pm. Accessibility: Access to Joe Joe Jims via the front doors is on the level with the frontage and footpath without the need to negotiate any steps or changes in surface height. Within the venue we have a raised disabled guest area accessible via ramp and should you need to use this facility, please notify us in advance on 0121 453 3103 and make yourself known to our staff upon your arrival so that we can provide any assistance you may require. Chantel McGregor Biography

The Blues came calling first, but rock was always waiting around the corner. Well it would be, wouldn’t it? Coming from the deep south, it was inevitable, but living in the deep south of a major Yorkshire City, there’s a gritty hard edge to life!
A female guitar prodigy, Chantel was told by a major label that she had a "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!" Wisely ignoring their comments, she enrolled at the Leeds College of Music and became the first student in the college’s history, to achieve a 100% pass mark at BTEC, with 18 distinctions. Chantel then pursued further education and left with a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music and a coveted prize, the college’s musician of the year award.

Chantel released her highly anticipated new album, Lose Control, in October 2015 on her independent boutique label Tis Rock Music, this being the follow up to her critically acclaimed 2011 debut album, Like No Other.
After years of touring and festival appearances, Chantel returned with a vengeance with ten new songs that not only salutes contemporary rock, but shows her gradual transition from conventional Blues to a harder, bigger and bolder rock sound with progressive influences.
