Cameron DuBois Biography

Growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, Cameron DuBois was all about music, listening to her favorite country, pop and R&B artists on her headphones and standing for hours in front of the mirror, having a blast performing whatever song she was listening to. Her family and cousins remind her that when she was only three, she would start punching the keys on any keyboard she could get a hold of, trying to get sounds to come out. Yet it wasn’t until she was 13, when she received her first guitar for Christmas, that she started on her true musical path as a singer/songwriter.
Inspired by Taylor Swift’s success as a guitar playing teen artist, Cameron sat in her room for hours trying to figure out how to play chords by watching instructional YouTube videos. A painfully shy teenager who was too afraid to perform for anyone, she continued to develop her gifts. She finally overcame her fears during her senior year in high school with a well-received guitar and vocal performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine” – and a 30 second self-expression speech - during a scholarship competition sponsored by DYW (Distinguished Young Women).
Since that breakthrough, there’s been no stopping her. While studying Civil Engineering at Auburn University, she began posting popular YouTube videos of herself performing both her own hard-hitting original songs (“If You Wanted Me”) and dynamic covers of pop hits like Katy Perry’s “Unconditional” and a spirited mashup of Nico & Vinz’s “Am I Wrong” and Maroon 5’s “Maps.” Cameron’s also been on a tear these past few years, winning numerous regional competitions, including NASH Next (where she placed first for the Montgomery area), a battle of the bands at Montgomery’s Riverfront Park and the 2016 Auburn Sings, during which her performance of a Madonna classic was broadcast to the entire university campus. She later placed second in an Auburn Battle of the Bands as a solo performer. In the spring of 2017 she won Most Promising Female Entertainer of the Year for NACMAI (North American Country Music Association International)
Since graduating from Auburn, Cameron has also been performing local and regional gigs up to four nights a week, showcasing her soulful voice with a mix of originals and country and R&B covers everywhere from BB King’s in Montgomery, The Exchange at the Renaissance Hotel, The Alley, the Double Branch in Troy, AL and several shows in Georgia. She has also opened for Luke Combs, sung the national anthem to open the 2016 Toadlick Music Festival in Dothan, AL, and sang a gospel song as the opener for the band Alabama’s gospel show which they put on for their fans in Fort Payne. The artists whose songs she performs include her biggest inspirations, from Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert to Kelsey Ballerini and Rihanna.
During an informal after-hours performer’s circle at a Nashville competition sponsored by NACMAI (North American Country Music Association International), Cameron’s performance of Miranda Lambert’s “White Liar” got the attention of Bernard Porter, Founder and CEO of the leading artist development company PCG Nashville. After attending his seminar, she joined the organization to further develop her multitude of musical gifts with top music industry mentors. As part of the Emerging Artists program, she is co-writing with several hit songwriters in addition to working on furthering her guitar and vocal skills and working with a performance coach and stylist.
Cameron has opened for Luke Combs, Alabama and Love and Theft, Thompson Square, Easton Corbin and John Michael Montgomery. She has played at numerous festivals around Central Alabama and East Georgia. She is currently writing songs for her first EP and hopes to have it out sometime in the Fall of 2018.
