MORE ON THE DOWD:Gerald Dowd has been described as the hardest working drummer in Chicago (Richard Milne, WXRT), playing on over 100 albums, and averaging 150 live dates a year around the world. In recent years, hes been releasing solo albums of original material, starting with his 2012 release, Kingsize EP. In 2014, he was the recipient of an IAP arts grant from Chicagos Dept. Of Cultural Affairs/Special Events (DCASE), which led to his first full-length solo album, Home Now, produced by Grammy-nominated producer Liam Davis, and featuring, among others, Chicago legends Robbie Fulks and Nora OConnor. To celebrate the release, he held a benefit concert (DAY OF THE DOWD) at which he played for 13 hours straight with 16 different bands, raising over $10,000 for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.Over the past 20 years, Rachel Swain has captivated audiences across genres with her powerful voice and rich songwriting. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, later moving to Houston, she developed a passion for music from a young age; Swain frequently watched her parents perform in various nightclubs around Houston. After her family relocated to Chicago where she is still based, she began to cut her teeth as a performer and songwriter, learning to play the fiddle, guitar, and bass and playing in projects from indie rock to 60s French pop. Her work has been named Performer Magazines April 2014 Vinyl of the Month, was featured by Fred Mills of Spin and Blurt Magazine on Blurt Online, and made Walt Falconers of The Falcons Nest, Top-10 Records of 2014 list.__________________________________Grab dinner before the show at BABYGOLD BARBECUE
