Niantic Biography
NIANTIC is an indie/alternative rock band from the eastside of Los Angeles. New single “Demimonde” follows several successful EP releases dating back the past few years on various LA-based indie labels. An upcoming seventh EP Social Studies came out Christmas 2024, followed by a live album and a full length LP mid-2025.
The band consists of bassist Ben Huff, drummer Chris McCartt, lead guitarist Dave Riem, vocalist/guitarist Ryan Trask -- and occasionally a few ultra-talented friends on guitars, keys, and horns. Over the past decade, their emotional storytelling, cunning wordplay, and dynamic, theatrical performances have consistently helped them earn a devoted following. Twitchy with plenty of deep groove, their complex pop craftsmanship consistently shows innovative ingenuity.
With a prolific original repertoire well into the hundreds, Niantic has toured extensively throughout the west coast, performing on stages with national acts such as the Red Pears, De Lux, Cracker, and Magic Bronson. Along the way, they've been acclaimed by media outlets such as the Press-Enterprise, New Noise, and Buzzbands LA, who
called their music “rip-roaring bombast.”
Oh, and we almost forgot: in 2015 Niantic founded their own LA- based festival, June Gloom, curating other local, like-minded talent; the event has consistently grown in size and quality every year since. June Gloom 2023 and 2024 were the band’s first two-day events with hometown heroes and national headliners -- receiving considerable attendance and coverage.
With additional previous support slots at festivals such as Echo Park Rising and legendary venues such as Pappy & Harrietʼs and The Roxy under their belts, Niantic will take things to the next level with highly anticipated live dates in 2025 and beyond.
