Climax Blues Band Biography
For over five decades, Climax Blues Band has stood as a cornerstone of British music, crafting an unmistakable sound that blends deep-rooted tradition with progressive musicianship. Their international breakthrough Couldn't Get It Right, featuring the distinctive voice of Colin Cooper, soared to #3 on the US Billboard charts and remains a radio staple today with over 30 million Spotify streams. Albums like FM Live and Gold Plated cemented their reputation for both artistic integrity and commercial success, contributing to their impressive following of over 500,000 monthly Spotify listeners.
Following the passing of Colin Cooper in 2008, the band's lead vocalist and driving force since their inception, Climax Blues Band continues the journey forward with Colin's explicit blessing and the full support of his family. Long-standing keyboardist George Glover, who performed with the band on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival in 1982, leads the ensemble, with lead vocalist Scott Ralph bringing sophisticated songcraft, commanding stage presence, and a unique dimension to the band's sound through his trumpet playing. The exemplary musicianship of stellar saxophonist Chris 'Beebe' Aldridge and the equally formidable, soulful guitar of Dan Machin pay homage to the legacy established by founding guitarist Peter Haycock and his successor Lester Hunt, who brilliantly held the guitar position from 1985. Anchoring the sound with over three decades of groove-making history together are the masterful rhythm section of Neil Simpson on bass and Roy Adams on drums — Roy having brilliantly held the drummer position since 1987.
Aside from continuing to tour Europe and the U.S., their latest work, Hands of Time, achieved critical and commercial acclaim, and the band is now crafting their next studio album. With a set that honours their rich history and classic tracks, the band will also be performing new songs from the upcoming album. Expect blues with touches of funk, jazz, and soul - all delivered with that unmistakable Climax Blues Band sound that resonates with their 500,000+ monthly Spotify listeners.
Don't miss this opportunity to experience Climax Blues Band live and understand why they remain such an iconic force in British music with millions of streams and a dedicated global following.
