Simone Waddell and Pat Powell are delighted to be performing at Centro CBD where you can relax and dine at the comfort of your own table. You can expect a stunning mix of Soul and R&B, including some duets, as well as songs you know and love. Sounds reminiscent of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, plus some original music, with melodies that grab your heart. An intimate show with exceptional musicality is on offer whenever these two accomplished vocalists perform. Simone’s recent original music has been hailed as, “the best music coming out of Australia right now.” Her recent fifth studio album, “The Art of Collaboration” was the number #1 Highest Selling Australian Jazz Album of 2022 and was accepted into four separate categories in the 2023 Grammys. Pat has toured the world as a backing vocalist for Kylie Minogue and warmed up for Queen, James Brown and the Eurythmics. Simone Waddell Biography
Simone Waddell is an award-winning Australian artist, recognized as one of her country's leading contemporary jazz singers. Her vocal versatility allows her to seamlessly move between various musical genres, including gospel, jazz, soul, funk, pop, and R&B. Her musical career spans over three decades of achievements and accolades. She is a gifted songwriter who infuses soulful melodies with groove, can sing a heart stopping ballad, or have the entire audience dancing on their feet.
She became the first Australian to receive a scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was personally invited by former Dean Dr. Warwick Carter. She later made history by becoming the first jazz vocalist to obtain a Master's in Music Research at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Her discography includes five albums, three EPs, and numerous singles. Her fifth studio album, "The Art of Collaboration," became the #1 ARIA Highest Selling Australian Jazz Album of 2022 and was entered into four Grammy categories. This unique project brought together sixty of Australia's top jazz musicians, including Tommy Emmanuel, James Morrison, and Paul Grabowsky.
Waddell has performed internationally at prestigious venues across Japan, China, Europe, and the United States. Her music is available globally, with almost seventy of her songs on China's QQ Music platform. She has collaborated with renowned artists and has participated in national tours with various performers.
Her latest single, "Calling You," was released in July 2024, and she is currently preparing several projects for 2025, including her sixth studio album "Unforgettable" and various themed shows, such as "The Great Ladies of Jazz" and performances at prestigious festivals and venues across Australia.
