Jeremy Rose

Jeremy Rose is an ARIA award-winning Sydney based saxophonist, composer, band leader, label director and academic. He is known for his wide breadth of work, gift for vibrant melody, and musical curiosity. His career spans over 25 recordings as a leader and over 150 works. His current ensembles include The Vampires, The Earshift Orchestra, Vazesh, Visions of Nar, Project Infinity, and the Jeremy Rose Quartet. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including an ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album, the APRA/AMCOS Art Music Award for Improvised/Jazz Performance of the Year, two Bell Awards, and a short-listing for the Australian Music Prize. His music has been performed at festivals around Australia, Europe and the UK, and has toured extensively in Australia and Europe. Rose was recently featured in Sydney Morning Herald’s Spectrum, heralded as “transforming the Australian contemporary jazz scene”. Rose holds a PhD in composition and ethnomusicology and is currently a Lecturer in Music Industry at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. As a label director of Earshift Music, Rose has fostered a community of creative musicians throughout Australasia which NYC Jazz Records describes as “hell bent on pushing the very definition of jazz,” and Sydney Morning Herald describes as “Australia’s most significant outlet for jazz-related music.” The label celebrated 15 years in 2024 with over 90 releases.
