De Engelse band The Brand New Heavies was midden jaren negentig de fakkeldrager van de acid-jazz. Met hun soepel groovende mix van funk, soul en jazz scoorden ze in hun thuisland hits als Midnight At The Oasis, Sometimes en Dream On Dreamer, singles die dankzij de alomtegenwoordigheid van MTV ook aansloegen in de rest van Europa. Verwacht vanavond veel werk van The Heavies’ bekendste album Brother Sister (1994), dat in 2024 opnieuw werd uitgebracht in een geremasterde & uitgebreide versie met maar liefst 30 nummers. The Brand New Heavies Biography
The Brand New Heavies are an acid jazz and alternative hip hop group formed in 1985 in Ealing, West London. Originally an instrumental rare groove group, the Brand New Heavies gained a cult following in the London club scene and soon signed to Cooltempo as acid house replaced rare groove in clubs.

* Jan Kincaid — born 17 May 1966 in Ealing - drummer / keyboardist
* Simon Bartholomew — born 16 October 1965 in Ealing - guitarist
* Andrew Levy — born 20 July 1966 in Ealing - bassist / keyboardist
The band has also worked with many vocalists, including N'Dea Davenport, Sideah Garrett, Carleen Anderson, Nicole Russo, and Sy Smith.
