About this concert
His latest album, “Blues Blood,” with Michel Ndegeocello as co-producer, has been a big hit. Saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, who completed a sold-out tour of Japan last October, will perform three days at the Cotton Club in mid-summer. Born in Philadelphia, Wilkins attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York in 2015. He has worked with Ambrose Akinmusire, Jason Moran, and Joel Ross, and his first album “Omega” on the prestigious Blue Note label was named “No. 1 Jazz Album of 2020” by the New York Times. For this performance, Kweku Sambry, who also accompanied him on the previous concert, as well as Micah Thomas and Ryoma Takenaga will join him. Expectations are bound to be high for the “current state of jazz” performed by these up-and-coming musicians.
