About this concert
Tom Hingley was the unmistakable voice of Inspiral Carpets, one of the defining bands of the Madchester movement. From the iconic organ riffs to the anthemic choruses, Tom was there for it all—front and centre during the band’s chart-topping heyday. Now, with just a guitar and a lifetime of stories, he brings those unforgettable songs back to life. From “This Is How It Feels” to “Saturn 5”, join Tom for an intimate, nostalgic journey through the soundtrack of a generation. Relive the glory days of baggy beats and northern soul as Tom Hingley performs the hits of Inspiral Carpets—raw, honest, and straight from the heart.

Tom Hingley Biography

Tom Hingley (born 9 July 1965) is a musician from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the band Inspiral Carpets.

He moved to Oldham in 1984, formed a band called Too Much Texas, and got a job collecting glasses at the legendary night club The Hacienda in Manchester. He joined the Inspiral Carpets as lead vocalist in 1989 and they split in 1995. They continue to sporadically tour to play Greatest Hits sets.

He released "Keep Britain Untidy", an acoustic album in 2000 and "Soulfire", a more band-orientated effort in 2002. The latter album was a collection of polished demos and unreleased tracks from 1996 to 2002.

In 2001 Tom formed the band The Lovers with Steve Hanley and Paul Hanley, both former members of The Fall, Jason Brown and Kelly Wood. The Lovers' first album, "Abba Are The Enemy", was released in 2004 under the alias Tom Hingley & The Lovers.
