Ian Shaw

The multi-award-winning singer, Ian Shaw, is one of the most recognisable names on the UK jazz scene, performing in the UK and worldwide both solo and in collaboration with an array of first-class musicians and ensembles. His career of over thirty-five years encompasses not only music but also broadcasting, comedy and acting. “The leading male jazz singer of his generation in the UK” (Jazzwise) cites Ray Charles, Bowie, Al Jarreau (with whom he has performed), Aretha, Stevie Wonder and the seventies soul scene as major influences. This new set, ‘A Soulful Exchange’ gives Shaw a chance to play out some exciting new arrangements with his stellar band. The UK singer, Mica Townsend is fresh from a world tour with Nick Cave. Mica joined Ian and the band on dates performing Ian’s album ‘Greek Street Friday’, co-written with Jamie Safir, alongside singer Polly Gibbons and singer-songwriter Matt Kent, including sell-out shows at Ronnie Scott’s.
