山中千尋 Chihiro Yamanaka

Yamanaka is a prizewinning classically trained pianist from Japan, tonight performing music from her latest albums, Carry On, Today is Another day, Rosa and favourite standards. Yamanaka 'is one of the world’s most accomplished heirs to Peterson’s legacy, and some have compared her effortless virtuosity and warmth to that of the late great Mulgrew Miller.' (John Fordham, The Guardian) Chihiro Yamanaka has recorded over 30 albums with Verve and Blue Note Records, including tributes to Bud Powell and Monk, all at Sterling Studio in New York City. Her international concerts include Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, JVC Jazz Festival New York, Umbria Jazz Festival, Tokyo Jazz Festival, and Vienna State Opera House. Her latest CD, "Dolce Vita" (Blue Note), released in 2024, topped several Japanese jazz charts. Chihiro's career, which began with the 2005 "Best New Artist" award by Swing Journal Magazine, includes sold-out tours and numerous chart-topping albums in Japan.
