Spire Biography
Gradually deconstructing his early post-rock attitude, from frontman-singer-songwriter with Franklin Delano to then going on to sonic explorer with Blake/e/e/e, Paolo set off on his solitary exploration of the electronic music world in 2010. A couple of years later, the songwriting structures still prominent in Boxeur The Coeur (solo project with various festival appearances, including Primavera Sound Festival 2012) got replaced by a more dance-floor-oriented music production. Early 2015 saw his debut under the moniker Spire with Healing Loops, a four-track Ep that has generated mild praise and attention from the press both nationally and internationally. Healing Loops was released digitally by Random Numbers, the “Bolognese” label/collective which Paolo himself is involved in with friends White Raven, BXP and Marco Unzip. At the end of 2015 his track Hedone was released in a CD collection by the London based label Urban Distortions. 2016 has already welcomed several tracks and remixes under Paolo's birth name Paolo Iocca, all available for free download. Paolo Iocca's track Suture can now be found on a cassette-only limited edition collection titled PBWVBS released via Random Numbers (a remix of same track by his friend Von Tesla is also included). In the space of just three records, Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist Paolo Iocca has established his label, RA-1, in the most convincing fashion.
