Senna-Marie Biography
Joburg based, songwriter and artist, Senna-Marie is interested in the affective: the clumsiness of feeling, fight and body into conversation and then song. Ep 'Fence Sitter', collaboration with pianist, and producer Ryan Schultze is her first release, launched in Melville (5th March 2022) along side acts: Tubatsi Moloi, & Lindo M.
Senna-Marie performs regularly with combinations of her core band: Ryan Schultze (Piano), Keegan Latham (Bass), Nicholas Bjorkman (Drums), Pamela King (Backing Vox), Athi Ngcaba (Trombone) Callum Kuhl (Synth) and is currently in studio preparing her next offering with the above band.
“Most often my songs arrive in more than one voice, they are conversations between people with often opposing world views; people I know and have great affection for. In singing, I soothe the parts of myself that feel fractured by the lack of shared perspective I witness in my immediate surroundings. Personally, within my family and friends but also politically within a wounded//healing socio-political landscape.” - Senna-Marie
