Moptop

Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2003, Moptop helped shape Brazil’s indie rock scene in the 2000s. The band released two studio albums, Moptop (2006) and Como Se Comportar (2008), both through Universal Music, and took part in the MTV Ao Vivo 5 Bandas de Rock DVD and album — a project that featured some of the most prominent up and coming Brazilian rock bands of the time. The band played over 200 shows throughout Brazil, in addition to sharing the stage with international acts like Oasis, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, Keane, and The Bravery. With a sound that blended the urgency of punk, the melodic sensitivity of Britpop, and the vibrant aesthetic of indie rock, the group earned critical acclaim, a loyal audience, and multiple awards, establishing itself as one of the standouts of the alternative scene.
