The first part is a tribute to Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, who will celebrate his 90th birthday in September 2025. Critics praise him as a magician of sound, a master of spirituality and archaic forms. His magnificent work Tabula Rasa is a worldwide success of contemporary music and became instantly famous in the West thanks to musicians like Gidon Kremer. The cycle Eine (andere) Winterreise was commissioned by Gidon Kremer in 2022 to mark the 25th anniversary of Kremerata Baltica. Five composers, all closely connected to Kremer and his ensemble, created reflections inspired by the songs of Franz Schubert’s classic song cycle Winterreise.
