Millo Biography
Millo is an alternative, electronic rock band from Rochester, NY.
There are layers to it all.
In 2020, JD Laird faced a significant challenge when a hard drive containing seven years' worth of mostly finished songs was corrupted, rendering all files irrecoverable. Undeterred by this setback, he made the decision to reconstruct the entire project from scratch. Drawing inspiration from the likes of M83, Tame Impala, and Radiohead, the result was Millo, an exploration into the liminal spaces of reality with a commitment to finding depth in every aspect.
The year 2022 marked Millo's debut with the release of "Control," a commentary on the inherent human desire for control and the realization that it is the one thing we never truly possess. Following this success, the band presented their most popular single to date, 'Gravedigger,' later in the same year. Infused with influences from Shoegaze and Underground Indie-Rock, the track invites listeners to pause and absorb their surroundings, creating a sonic experience akin to a fresh breath of cold night air.
In 2023, Millo continued to evolve with the release of 'Infrared,' a reflection on dissatisfaction with the digital world and a call to reconnect with the tangible realities often overlooked in our daily lives. Closing out the year, 'Another Way,' released in December, showcased a departure from their prior sound, embracing electronic Alt-Pop influences. With four releases behind them, Millo is now poised to bring their music to live audiences in 2024, all while diligently working on their debut album.
