Mel Lathouras Biography
Deeply soulful, sweet and seductively smooth, Mel Lathouras is undoubtedly known as one of Australia’s finest jazz and soul singer-songwriters, performing with a variety of ensembles and creative musical projects.
Taking the stage at QLD’s finest venues such as Brisbane Powerhouse, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, The Tivoli, Brisbane Jazz Club and the JMI Live, Mel thrives in front of a live audience, creating an experience like no other.
Co-founder and singer of a female lead jazz band, Yas Queen, Mel has featured her vibrant performances at Brisbane Festival’s renowned Spiegeltent in 2019. Sharing the stage with some of the most distinguished international artists, Mel has performed alongside Luke Peacock, Danny Widdicombe as part of the Painted Ladies, a Vic Simms tribute act at Womadelaide 2015. The group also performed at National Victoria Gallery in 2017.
Featuring in Brisbane’s latest regular late-night cabaret variety show, One Trick Pony Club, Mel showcases the diversity of her talents as a comedic cabaret singer, writing and performing parody pieces for the new production.
While music and performing is her life, her true passion is to share the ultimate gift of music and self-expression with others as a dedicated singing teacher and life/business coach, as owner and director of ‘Fearless Singer', a community of singers liberating themselves from fear.
Mel will be releasing her debut EP of originals mid-2022.
