Daudi Matsiko Biography
Daudi Matsiko returns with new EP ‘Dead Bird Dream’ after the success of debut album ‘The King of Misery’ and recent collaborations with GoGo Penguin and Werkha. This new collection of deeply felt, modern folk songs tells a story of heartache, diaspora and self-acceptance at a time when belonging and British identity feels as though in constant jeopardy.
To be released on the 28th of November 2025. The British-Ugandan enlists the help of Puma Blue, Joy Crookes & Cinematic Orchestra bassist Cameron Dawson and drummer Chris Boot (Lone & Mama’s Gun) as a stunning rhythm section as well as including subtle contributions on wind instruments from Caitlin Laing-McEvoy (Caoilfhionn Rose, Bryony Jarman-Pinto). On the two lead singles, Matsiko’s delicate vocals are joined by Tiger Cohen-Towell of Nottingham favourites Divorce and Ríoghnach Connolly of Honeyfeet and The Breath.
December will see Matsiko performing with and opening for GoGo Penguin at the Barbican Centre in London and Manchester’s Albert Hall as well as thirty more dates across Europe in the new year.
The third release on Matsiko’s own record label ‘Really Good’, ‘Dead Bird Dream’ is a breathtaking addition to an unmissable collection of songs.
