Farayi Malek

Farayi Malek, a Grammy-nominated vocalist with Danilo Pérez’s Global Messengers, is now returning to her musical roots with a debut solo project. Raised in a small town in Southern Idaho, the daughter of a Zimbabwean immigrant and a white American mother, Farayi blends the diverse influences of gospel, American folk, blues, and jazz into her unique sound. A Salt Lick Incubator award-winner, her music showcases her effortless vocals and accessible songwriting. Some of Farayi's influences include Alison Krauss, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Sarah Jarosz, and Rhiannon Giddens. In addition to performing, Farayi teaches at prestigious institutions like Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory, inspiring her students as they have inspired her. Through her music and teaching, Farayi aims to help others feel seen and at home in their uniqueness.
