Joybomb

In the current cultural revival of pop punk and indie sleaze, Joybomb feels right at home. Yet these crunchy boys from Memphis, TN have no problem marching to the beat of their own drum, “reliably fusing their post-hardcore and garage-punk bonafides with unapologetic power pop gold,” (We Are Memphis). While Joybomb sonically wears influences of the 90s and early aughts on their sleeves (think Alkaline Trio, Rival Schools, The Dandy Warhols), this alt rock outfit keeps a vibe all their own - driving fast and furious with the bright lights on, even when veering onto darker musical and lyrical avenues. Similar contemporary influences range from Together Pangea to Masked Intruder to Catfish and the Bottlemen. Tight, melodic, and fierce, Joybomb is a kick in the teeth with a kiss on the cheek afterward; it’s the southern glam punk that you didn’t know you desperately needed.
