Sergio González Biography
Sergio González, hailing from Barcelona, Spain, is a renowned Viola de Roda player and teacher with a passion for early music. He honed his Hurdy Gurdy skills under the guidance of renowned musicians such as Cretan Lyra master Kelly Thoma, enabling him to fuse Mediterranean phrasing with historically informed Medieval and Renaissance approaches.
Sergio's love for music has taken him on a journey of cultural exploration, leading him to study the musical traditions of various regions and time periods. He has taught seminars and performed in several countries worldwide, including Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Greece, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
Through his YouTube project "Zanfoneando," performances, and conferences, Sergio is dedicated to introducing the Viola de Roda to a wider audience. His efforts have already begun to make an impact, and he is determined to continue spreading awareness and appreciation for this incredible instrument.
