About Watashi Wa
Watashi Wa is a melodic rock band from California’s Central Coast, originally signed to Tooth & Nail Records. The name “Watashi Wa” is Japanese and loosely translates to “I,” “myself,” or “as for me,” depending on the context.
Formed in 2000 while most of the members were still teenagers, Watashi Wa quickly built a dedicated following with their heartfelt lyrics, energetic live shows, and a sound blending pop sensibilities with an emotional edge. The band first released music through indie label Bettie Rocket before signing with Tooth & Nail in 2002, where they released their most recognized work.
In 2004, the band disbanded, and frontman Seth Roberts launched a new project called Eager Seas. Their debut album was released under the name Watashi Wa through Tooth & Nail as part of a transitional agreement with the label. Following that release, Roberts and the band moved forward under the Eager Seas name, choosing to establish a fresh identity while maintaining the creative spirit that had defined Watashi Wa.
Now, with a renewed passion and vision, Watashi Wa has returned to continue their story—evolving their sound while honoring their roots.
