no ordinary fish Biography
no ordinary fish is an Exeter-based 4-piece originals rock/pop band with two albums under their belt, made up of Stu Pearce (bass guitar and vocals), Debbie Pearce (rhythm guitar and vocals), Rich Booth (lead and rhythm guitar) and their newest member Joe Martin (drums). Their songs are catchy and eclectic with rich melodies, boy/girl harmony vocals and are influenced by quality 70s/90s bands like Fleetwood Mac, Blondie and Crowded House with a nod to the Beatles but mostly sound like themselves – a unique and eclectic blend of sophisticated guitar pop rock with strong songwriting.
The first album brought together songs written by Stu and Debbie over 20 years and was generally more laid back; the second was more punchy and upbeat and was written during times of significant challenge, hence the title and album cover symbol ‘Adverse Camber’. Their 3rd album is currently under construction.
Some of the most popular songs on Adverse Camber are Summer Song for its upbeat feel https://tinyurl.com/mshc5v6h, Closer I Am for its in-your-face punchiness https://tinyurl.com/3d5zah3f
and Shadowlands for its epic sweep https://tinyurl.com/47f3jfbd
Apart from the strength of the songs, the band’s Unique Selling Point is their ‘maturity’, their friendly and relatable on-stage presence, and how many singing bass players do you know who are overcoming the challenges of MS?!
The band has played many gigs over the last 4 years with very pleasing feedback from audiences, including headlining a 4 band showcase at Exeter Phoenix in 2024.
