About this concert
House of Waters, nominated for a 2024 GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, is a genre-defying trio that blends West African, jazz, psychedelic, classical, and world music. "In today's world, there are no musical boundaries," says Max ZT, the "Jimi Hendrix of the Hammered Dulcimer" (NPR), who revolutionizes the dulcimer with his unorthodox style. Alongside bassist Moto Fukushima, a master of finesse and power, the group creates a sound that leaves audiences "slack-jawed in awe" (Jazz Wise). Their latest album, On Becoming, features drummer Antonio Sanchez, guitarist Mike Stern, and vocalist Priya Darshini. "Our focus is on the moment, openness, and composition as both a tool for connection and isolation," says ZT. With a history of collaborations with legends like Pandit Ravi Shankar and Snarky Puppy, House of Waters continues to push musical boundaries and redefine contemporary jazz.
