About Diaphane
Diaphane is a band in constant motion. Formed in Philadelphia in 2016 by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kyle Blessing, it began as an indie rock project incorporating elements of emo, psychedelia, and free jazz, culminating in the 2022 debut album Portraits. Amid the diaspora of the COVID-19 pandemic, Blessing relocated to South Dakota, putting the finishing touches on Portraits in isolation. Just before it's release, a new band was thrown together, and recording was soon underway for a new EP, God Ain't A Man And Ain't Ain't In The Dictionary, and exploration of queer country and shoegaze, released in 2024.
The band's current lineup of Blessing, Wyatt Fenner (bass/guitar/vocals), Edward Flammond (drums/vocals), and Josh Shepperd (guitar/bass/vocals) came together in mid 2024 after the dissolution of the country version of Diaphane. Blessing and Fenner began writing and releasing songs together as Diaphane x Wyatt Riot, and as their creative partnership blossomed, a full record of collaborative material began to emerge. Drawing on their mutual childhood love of alt country, punk, and shoegaze music, the duo lead the band once again into new sonic territory.
