Razor Biography
Hailing from Hackney in the East end of London, MC & artist Razor has been delivering raw, rough and ready perspectives from the borough for nearly a decade. He’s a grime MC first and foremost, with a prolific pirate radio record, and a lengthy live CV - hosting for and supporting some of the biggest names in UK music.
Whilst YouTube freestyles and Pirate radio sets are his origin story, Razor’s approach now defies categorisation. A truly multifaceted performer, he’s proved he’s perfectly comfortable on a range of sounds: anthemic grime, high octane garage, sub-heavy 140 heaters, hip-hop at whatever tempo… even abstract rave-ready sounds that don’t quite have a name yet.
Following on from his landmark Homegrown EP - 2018, Razor has gone on to independently release an impressive discography of his own, often collaborating with the artists he first encountered on the pirate radio circuit or wider grime scene including MCs like Manga Saint Hilare and producers like Kenny Davis.
Razor’s also got vocals for built-for-the-dance riddims produced by the likes of Hamdi and Ahadadream as well as collaborating with imprints and labels across the UK and Europe including Scuffed Records and Rinse FM.
Often hailed for his ‘sharp’ (get it?) wordplay and unconventional instrumental selection, The Sharp One is rarely what anyone expects from a grime MC.
