Los Crema Paraiso Biography
For the past 15 years, Los Crema Paraiso has been at the forefront of redefining Venezuelan joropo music through their innovative interpretation as a power rock trio, often termed Neofolklore. Founded in 2009 by Neil Ochoa and Jose Luis Pardo, established Venezuelan musicians in New York with backgrounds in successful bands like Si-Se, Chicha Libre, and Los Amigos Invisibles respectively, the project initially began with a lighthearted notion of blending well-known rock songs with elements of jazz, pop, and electronica, all within the musical framework of the Venezuelan traditional Llanera music's 3/4 or 6/8 time signature.
However, this initial concept evolved into a rich tapestry of sounds, textures, and captivating guitar melodies interwoven with polyrhythmic drums and robust bass lines, akin to opening a Pandora's box of musical exploration.
Their debut album, "El Debut" (2010), comprised entirely of instrumental tracks, primarily covers, exhibited an ethereal and urgent quality, underscored by raw rhythmic energy. Subsequently, "De Pelicula!" (2015) ventured into reimagining themes from Venezuelan B-class police-action movies, adopting a more vocal-centric approach. This album featured a stellar lineup of guest singers including Andrea Echeverri (Los Aterciopelados), Carol C (Si*Se), and Argenis Brito (Señor Coconut), among others.
In 2015, Bambam Rodriguez joined as the new bassist, further solidifying the band's global presence and their expansive musical repertoire spanning rock, psychedelia, roots, folklore, and beyond.
