Az Urban Verbunk összetéveszthetetlenül új táncstílust hozott létre, amely a több száz éves folklór eredetiségére épül. Hitvallásuk a hagyomány és innováció ötvözésével olyan táncprodukciók létrehozása, melyek egyedülálló érzéseket váltanak ki a közönségből.
A társulat alapítója és művészeti vezetője, az Érdemes Művész Moussa Ahmed pályafutása alatt már olyan helyeken képviselte a magyar kultúrát, mint a Buckingham Palota, a riói olimpia, valamint a pekingi parlament. A magyar kultúra nemzetközi színtéren történő népszerűsítésének céljából hozta létre az Urban Verbunkot, amely irányítása alatt az elmúlt évek során maga is kulturális exportcikké vált. Ennek legnagyobb bizonyítéka, hogy az elmúlt években olyan nívós eseményeken léptek fel, mint a 2020-as UEFA Labdarúgó Európa Bajnokság, a 2022-es Forma-1es Magyar Nagydíj, és a 2023-as Atlétikai Világbajnokság, valamint hogy Londontól Rómán át a kiszáradt Aral-tóig több helyszínen is készítettek produkciókat.
Az Urban Verbunk produkciója egy formabontó előadóművészeti koncepción alapuló előadás, amely a magyar néptánc gazdag kulturális örökségére épülve felhívja a figyelmet a jelen égető globális társadalmi kérdéseire. Az Urban Verbunk az általa képviselt progresszív, a világon egyedülálló néptáncstílus merész koncepciója alapján gondolja újra a zenei világot is: A komolyzene nagyjainak legismertebb zeneművei egyedi hangszerelésben, szimfonikus zenekari kísérettel, crossover hangzásban hallhatók, a világ legnagyobb popelőadóinak slágereivel együtt.
A tánc és a zene mellett az előadást kísérő, grandiózus vizuális elemek együttesen egy mozihatást elérő szórakozási élményhez járulnak hozzá, mely teljesen egyedülálló mind a popkultúra-, mind a színház-, mind pedig az opera közönségének.

URBAN VERBUNK, a leading light in the realm of Hungarian folk dance, graces the stages of the most esteemed national and international forums and sports events.
At the helm of the organization is Ahmed Moussa, the artistic director and cultural ambassador who has showcased Hungarian heritage at a myriad of events, from the illustrious stage of New York’s Lincoln Center to the vibrant Rio Olympics, and even at the 70th birthday celebration of Prince Charles.
Ahmed Moussa, one of Hungary’s most celebrated young dance artists, has a portfolio adorned with numerous professional accolades such as the Gyula Harangozó Award, Junior Prima Award, and Bezerédj Award. His extraordinary achievements include several successful record attempts, earning him the title of the World’s Fastest Folk Dancer.

URBAN VERBUNK presents “Don’t Lie to the Planet Show”, a pioneering dance performance that spotlights the urgent global social issues of our era. The show features a distinctive dance style, unparalleled globally, that merges with classical music masterpieces, top pop artists, and striking visual elements to deliver a unique cinematic entertainment experience. This fusion appeals to a broad audience, from pop culture enthusiasts to theatre and opera goers.
The show’s core theme is the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on our society. Despite AI’s increasing role in our daily lives, its representation in stage dance remains rare. The production employs grand visual elements, including a pool filled with over 2,500 liters of water, a flaming floor, sparkling drumsticks, and a 40 square meter trampoline mat, to depict humanity’s interaction with our environment through AI. It explores how we have treated the natural and societal environment throughout history and what the future might hold given these actions.
The performance also addresses human-induced environmental disasters (such as water shortages and wildfires) and global social problems from our past and present (like the Holocaust, racial discrimination, and famine).
In a bold reinterpretation of music, URBAN VERBUNK pairs their progressive, unique folk dance style with a symphonic orchestra playing renowned classical music pieces in unique arrangements. These are presented in a crossover format alongside hits from the world’s biggest pop artists, adding another layer of appeal to the show.
This innovative blend of dance, music, and social commentary makes “Don’t Lie to the Planet Show” a must-see for anyone interested in a thought-provoking and entertaining performance.
