About this concert
The mundane becomes extraordinary in the beats and lyrics of the legendary music project that zooms in and picks apart the everyday. Through The Streets’ six albums, one feature film and one mixtape, life’s nuances come under cutting commentary from the perspective of an everyman, spanning hazy nights in the club, waking up in a drunken stupor, picking up Jobseeker’s Allowance, unrequited love and everything in-between. Frontman Mike Skinner has long been a legend of UK hip-hop, and has harnessed UK garage, drum & bass, house, bassline, grime and rap to develop a firm reputation as a working-class hero. The music of The Streets’ most recent album, The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light is inextricably linked to the dancefloor, with tidal waves of bass, garage and house laced in, an experience akin to stumbling through different rooms of the club. This event is part of Little Simz' Meltdown.

Mike Skinner and The Streets Biography
The Streets, or Mike Skinner to his mum, burst onto the UK music scene in 2002. Described as the voice of his generation, the ground-breaking mix of beats and rhymes of Original Pirate Material, led to a Mercury Music Prize Nomination, and both critical and commercial acclaim. That was just the beginning of the rollercoaster that would run through the modern-day opus of A Grand Don't Come For Free, which spawned the UK No.1 Dry Your Eyes, as well as a host of Top 10 singles and went multi-platinum around the world. www.thestreetstour.com
