Lola Young

Raw, honest and compulsively catchy, the south London local’s songs are irresistible odes to the often-wonky Gen Z experience. Lola Young is an alternative pop star immersed in urban reality, not shying away from the topics of infidelity, job insecurity, self-loathing, mental health struggles and the hazards of the digital era. Born in Croydon, Young began writing her own songs at 11, attended the Brit School and built a following through open mic nights, small London pubs and venues, where labels began showing up. She was both a Brits Rising Star and BBC Sound of nominee in 2022. Her official debut album, This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway is, much like the singer herself: brash, funny, fierce, almost ill-advisedly honest and strongly rooted in south London.
