Peña's new album is the culmination of a personal and musical journey, born from my curiosity and deep reflection on what it means to be a Latin jazz guitarist. It’s an exploration of how Afro-Caribbean elements—clave, montunos, tumbaos, rhythms, and melodies—can be woven into the fabric of jazz guitar. The result is a conversation between tradition and innovation, a blending of the harmonic sophistication of jazz with the rhythmic soul of Afro-Caribbean music.

Richard Peña Biography
Puerto Rican guitarist Richard Peña intricately blends the traditional sounds of Latin music, and the modern colors of post-bop/fusion jazz through the soothing warm sound of his guitar. The 27-year-old has been recognized as a Youth Jazz Ambassador (2015), has recorded 4 albums, and has performed with players ranging from Latin Grammy Award Winners such as Miguel Zenón, Horacio El Negro Hernandez, and Charlie Sepulveda, to Latin singers Carlos Vives, Víctor Manuelle.
