Ok Cowgirl Biography
Ok Cowgirl, the Brooklyn based indie rock project aptly sounds like “if you crossed Patsy Cline (the O.G. Cowgirl and Queen of Country Heartbreak) with Thom Yorke and Radiohead” (The Deli Magazine).
Formed in the summer of 2018, they released their debut EP, Not My First Rodeo, in December of 2021 to high praise from outlets such as FLOOD Magazine, EARMILK, The Line of Best Fit, Brooklyn Vegan, American Songwriter, and Under the Radar. Their singles have earned placement on editorial playlists such as Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Rock and Tidal’s Rising: Indie/Rock.
The group's debut LP, recorded and produced by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Indigo De Souza, Wednesday), is due out on August 16, 2024 on Chicago/Nashville based label Easy Does It. From fuzz-drenched power chords and soaring hooks to dreamy synths and intimate restraint, it tells stories of heartbreak, personal growth, existential dread, and love. The 10 track record is titled “Couldn’t Save Us From My Gut,” referring to the album’s throughline of holding tight to one’s intuition as life unfolds before you.
Ok Cowgirl is Leah Lavigne, Matt Birkenholz, Jake Sabinsky, John Miller, and Ryan Work.
