Det svenska folkpop-bandet Leading Edge är aktuella med ny musik! I juni släpps deras nya singel "Cynical Mind" och detta firas med en spelning på Far i Hatten 10e juni. Bandet spelar en balanserad kombination av varma instrumentala melodier och nordisk popproduktion. Medlemmarna hämtar inspiration från artister som The Tallest Man on Earth och The Paper Kites, och deras texter skildrar personliga berättelser, inspirerade av allt från neo-noir-filmer till vardagliga reflektioner.
Leading Edge bildades 2012 av sångerskan och låtskrivaren Anna Johannisson och har sitt ursprung i en grupp universitetsstudenter som träffades i Lund. Bandets estetik bär spår av den intellektuella och öppna atmosfären i stadens studentliv.
Soundet hos Leading Edge har utvecklats från Coldplay-influerad poprock till en mer akustisk ton, formad i samarbete med den Göteborgsbaserade producenten Alexander Asp. Deras mjuka sångharmonier backas upp av de medryckande melodierna från piano och elgitarr.
Leading Edge släppte sin första EP 2016 och skrev på för Rexius Records 2019. 2020 släppte de singeln Radio Shadow och albumet Northern Lights. 2022 kom singlarna Sin City och The Secrets You Hide, och nu är de tillbaka med en ny singel.

Folk Pop from Southern Sweden
Swedish folk pop ensemble Leading Edge is an ear-friendly combination of organic instrumental melodies and Nordic pop production. A group of musicians with diverse influences, drawing inspiration from artists like The Tallest Man on Earth and The Paper Kites. Their lyrics embody individual universes inspired by everything from neo-noir films to everyday thoughts.
Formed in 2012 by singer/songwriter Anna Johannisson, Leading Edge originated as a group of university students in the southern city of Lund. The band’s overall aesthetics carry a subtle influence from the town’s intellectual and open-minded student life.
The sound of Leading Edge has evolved from pop-rock influenced by Coldplay to a rather acoustic tone shaped in collaboration with Gothenburg-based producer Alexander Asp. Their mellow vocal harmonies are supported by the catchy melodies of the piano and electric guitar.
The band released their first EP in 2016 and got signed to Rexius Records in 2019. The single "Radio Shadow" and subsequent album "Northern Lights" were released under the label in 2020. Leading Edge returned in 2022 with “Sin City”, with an accompanying music video recorded in the streets of Malmö. The video was premiered on Swedish music magazine HYMN. Their latest single “The Secrets You Hide” was released in May 2022.
