If you rounded up all the best 90s rom-coms and turned them into an indie folk band, you’d get Other Vessels. The new, genre-defying musical project of singer/songwriter Miranda Haney (Miss Miranda) fuses quick-witted, “funny-sad woman” lyrics with an eclectic mix of musical influences like Andy Shauf, Broken Social Scene, Joanna Newsom, and Stephen Sondheim. Their debut EP, Empty Afternoon, is out now.
