Het Amerikaanse trio King Buffalo omschrijft hun eigen muziek als ‘heavy psych’. Een prima naam voor hun combinatie van stonerrock, blues en progrock, met hier en daar een uitstapje naar dromerige, akoestische sferen. Invloeden van Black Sabbath en Pink Floyd klinken door, maar King Buffalo heeft tegelijk een geheel eigen sound, vooral door de typische stem van frontman Sean McVay. In 2023 verscheen het livealbum Live At Burning Man, een nieuw studioalbum komt nog dit jaar (de single Balrog is al uit). It may have been the best setlist I’ve seen them do live. It was a great show and I can’t believe they haven’t been at bigger venues. They are such a tight band with tremendous sound from only 3 guys. I absolutely loved it!

King Buffalo - Rochester, NY Psychedelic / Heavy Blues / Stoner Rock. Formed in September of 2013.
"King Buffalo is a psychedelic trio in the classic format of bass, drums, and guitar, whose expansive and thunderous music is anything but easily definable.
Formed by three long-standing members of the blooming Rochester, NY rock scene, King Buffalo gathered in September of 2013 to start working on a new musical collaboration in a heavy rock vein. Their efforts spawned a demo release and several splits and one-offs which, coupled with their impressive live show, quickly gained them an international audience.
King Buffalo is the trio of vocalist/guitarist Sean McVay, bassist Dan Reynolds, and drummer Scott Donaldson. Since forming in 2013, the self-proclaimed "heavy psych" band has made its name via 4 EPs, 4 Full-lengths, and tours with the likes of Clutch, The Sword, All Them Witches, and Elder.
