Search For Yeti Biography

Search For Yeti began in 2019 when Luke Marlow, Sean Barker and Vincent Waide stepped into a room armed with their instruments and the bare bones of a couple of songs. There was an immediate and undeniable creative spark as they got to work expanding on these ideas and quickly new songs started coming thick and fast. But just as they were feeling ready to perform to an audience the world was locked down. Rather than seeing this as a setback, the band used the time to write more songs, and to perfect the ‘Yeti’ sound, figuring out what it was that would set them apart... When they were finally able to play shows, the band used this opportunity to refine the songs further rather than rushing to record. Their first single, the cinematic ‘Red’ was released in 2023 before plunging headfirst into recording their debut album. The catchy, power-pop single ‘What You Mean To Me’ followed in early 2024 before the full album 'Dark So Soon' was released in November 2024. With all three band-members contributing songs, drawing from their individual influences (including britpop, new-wave, indie- folk and shoegaze to name a few), this naturally creates a unique sound and a variety not seen in a lot of bands, but one that they have been careful to craft in such a way so that every song still sits naturally alongside any of the others. Their goal in making the album was to create a range of moods, heavy on atmosphere and always with a focus on melody.
