About this concert

Pinhead Biography
PINHEAD is an idiosyncratic and unique art project whose sole member is multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and singer Ilja John Lappin.
PINHEAD is an outlet for his world of thoughts: dark longings manifest themselves in atmospheric progressive metal and melancholic, personal lyrics.
Already the band name gives room for interpretation and imagination. The well-known film character from “Hellraiser” is regarded by some as the incarnation of evil, while to others it appears as a liberator. For Lappin, it became a figure of identification that served the realization of his musical ideas, but above all the merciless confrontation with the beautiful and horrifying process of human individuation - especially his own.
This dissonance defines the debut album “Egomessiah”. It consists not only of demonic screams and growls, aggressive and harsh metal riffs, but also of gentle, catchy melodies and clear, devotional vocals. Acoustic soundscapes, interwoven with synth elements create a mellow gothic vibe, make each track unpredictable. The result is an experimental interplay between genres. The compositions are full of harmonies, symbioses and undertake complex, yet ultimately comprehensible and resolving developments.
PINHEAD's music tells of the tale of breaking and getting up again, of the farewell to indoctrinated ideas and the ghosts of the past, of leaving an old world behind in order to embrace everything new and above all: oneself.
