Tony and Esther Chuang Ministries Biography

Tony Chuang (莊智超) was born in Taipei, Taiwan but grew up in Penang, Malaysia. After high school, he went to Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA (USA) to get a North American post-secondary education. He transferred to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa, ON (Canada) and completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Throughout his childhood, he grew up with people of all cultures and ethnicities. In Taiwan, he was raised a Buddhist and was well-acquainted with ancestral and idol worship. In Malaysia, he heard the Muslim prayer (Salat) 5 times a day. Everything that he is now, he owes to the grace of God. Through a hospital experience, God has saved him from both physical death and spiritual death.

While an university student, Tony was very active in campus ministry. He was the prayer coordinator with Campus Crusade for Christ, served on the team with the Veritas Forum, led small group Bible studies, hosted daily prayer meetings, and evangelized tirelessly on campus.

His evangelism efforts include doing "Free Hugs," striking a conversation with people on benches, giving gospel tracts at Marijuana parties, debating atheists on the radio, open-air preaching in the school hall, and many more creative attempts. His passion for lost souls is one of his defining characteristics.

Since graduation, Tony briefly worked as a computer programmer. But his call by God to full-time ministry was too strong for him to ignore. He is currently pursuing full-time (Master of Divinity) God’s calling in his life to be a full-time minister of the gospel because he now cannot imagine another way of life. He simply must preach! This fire is too intense for him to hold in (Jer 20:9)! Likewise, he believes that Hellfire is too damning for any of us to hold the gospel in…

Tony would do anything, ANYTHING (Rom 9:3), to see lost souls come to truly know Christ, especially his older brother (of course within moral bounds). It is to that end that he prays nonstop (cf. 1 Thess 5:17) and for that end he tries to work harder than anyone (cf. 1 Cor 15:10).

He has preached in churches across Canada, United States, Korea, Taiwan and Haiti. He likes to preach expository messages from a passage from the Bible and let God's Word do the talking. A common theme is the holiness of God and the need for revival.

-----------------------------------------------------

Esther Shin Chuang has ministered on four continents: North America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. As a pianist and singer, she has led worship, shared music and encouraged audiences with her testimony in numerous churches, universities, and conferences in countries around the world, including the United States, Korea, Kenya, Uganda, Germany and Austria.

Her journey of music began when she began playing the piano at the age of four. She gave her first solo concert in the US and in Korea when she was seven years old, and has continued to perform in numerous prestigious venues like New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. As the winner of the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition at the Brevard Music Festival, she performed the Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra on the Soloists of Tomorrow Concert. She has won numerous competitions including the 11th Zimmerli Piano Competition, 19th International Young Artist Competition, Associated Teachers of Music League Young Artist Competition, Baltimore Music Club Competition, and the Manchester Young Artist Competition.

Esther has participated in the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, Beethoven Institute, Brevard Music Festival, the Gijon International Piano Festival in Spain, the International Summer Academy Mozarteum in Austria, and the Aspen Music Festival for five summers as a full scholarship recipient. In summer 2011, she was the Assistant Dean of the Brevard Music Festival and School.

Esther earned her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the Manhattan School of Music and her Bachelor of Music degree at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. She also studied as a scholarship student in the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School in New York City. Her piano teachers include Ann Schein, Boris Slutsky, Ernest Barretta, Sandra Shen, and Un-Young Whang. Her voice teachers include Kyungsook Lee Shin (her mother), Winifred Brown, and Desiree Hassler.

After completing her Master of Music, she entered the Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL, to be equipped as an international music missionary. Prior to coming to Moody Seminary, she pursued her calling by organizing and leading multi-campus worship and prayer events at various colleges and music festivals across the U.S, and by sharing music at organizations that serve people who are homeless, elderly, ill, and at risk youths.

During her time at Moody Seminary, more doors began to open for her to minister through music. She has been regularly invited to lead worship at churches and conferences in the States and overseas, and she has developed a unique worship concert which she has presented in over 100 churches. In addition to her passion in music ministry, she desires to disciple musicians to be worshipers of God. She is currently teaching music and mentoring students as an adjunct faculty in the Music Department of the Moody Bible Institute.

In May 2013, Esther completed her Seminary studies and earned a Master of Arts of Spiritual Formation and Discipleship. Esther and her husband Tony Chuang, evangelist and preacher, share the same vision of being God’s instrument in bringing all the people and nations into the presence of God. Together, they will continue to proclaim the gospel and praise God all over the nations.

“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live!” - Psalm 146:1-2
--------------------------------------------------

Together with his wife, they do ministry together all over the world. Their desire is to travel to all nations, preaching the gospel, Tony with words and Esther with music. Their passion is for global revival and to see God worshipped across all nations.
