DLR Biography

If you want an update on the London Underground service, you are in the wrong place. If you like big soundsystems, big sofas (and occasionally drum & bass), this is your guy.

DLR is a Bristol based DJ / producer and founder of record label Sofa Sound Bristol, with close involvements in other projects such as The Sauce, OneMind, Collective (and more TBA soon).

Emerging as an artist over the past decade, DLR (short for Dirty le Roi) continues today just as he started off – constantly creating new music, experimenting in the studio, developing his sound.

The back catalogue is proof, with releases on Dispatch (home to his first 3x albums), Metalheadz, 31 Recordings, Utopia, Symmetry and C.I.A., plus a handful of quality remixes: for artists like Noisia, Camo & Krooked, Hybrid Minds, Spectrasoul, Roni Size, Zero T and Q-Project.

Sofa Sound Bristol is his main home today; the label he started in 2017 has built a loyal following, releasing his collabs with Break, Randall, Ulterior Motive and supporting newer acts like Molecular, Ill Truth, M-zine. Much loved for its distinctive music, art direction and events, the label won Drum&BassArena’s ‘Best Newcomer Label’ award in 2020.

Expect to hear much more coming from DLR and Sofa Sound Bristol in 2021, as some exciting projects finally see the light of day. This includes ‘Make My Mind Go’ (his debut Sofa Sound EP), a certain special 20/20 remix, a new Sofa King Sick album and some debut appearances on The North Quarter and 1985 Music. Shhhh!
