About this concert
The Yale Whiffenpoofs With special guest Whim 'n Rhythm Every year, 14 senior Yale students are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs, the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Founded in 1909, the “Whiffs” began as a senior quartet that met weekly at Mory’s Temple Bar. Today, the group has become one of Yale’s most celebrated traditions. Singing a mixture of old Yale tunes, jazz standards, and other hits from across the decades, the Whiffenpoofs perform more than 200 concerts across six continents each year. Whim 'n Rhythm Originally founded in 1981, Whim ‘n Rhythm features the most talented soprano and alto singers in Yale’s senior class. Whim’s performance experience spans domestic and international destinations, including the White House, multiple U.S. Embassies in Asia, Europe, Africa & Oceania, and for Former President Bill Clinton and Former Secretaries of State Hilary Clinton and John Kerry. All of Whim’s music is arranged by students, dating back to music predating the group’s founding to brand new arrangements from the Class of 2025, spanning genres ranging from jazz standards to soulful ballads to pop and rock classics. Whim ‘n Rhythm is delighted to make their debut at The Kate!
