Straight Girl Biography
‘The unofficial queen of music that makes you want to dance and cry at the same time.’
Rising from the ashes of solo electro-punk project N/\L/\, comes ‘STRAIGHT GIRL’. Fiercely and fearlessly queer in both sexuality and gender, Leeds based composer and producer Holly Readman is back to remind you that they are still undoubtedly the UK’s authority on ‘graveyard rave’.
In past works and appearances, STRAIGHT GIRL has been frequently praised by BBC Introducing and declared ‘zesty’ from the likes of Tom Robinson’s 6 Music Mixtape, commandeered stages from the likes Live At Leeds, Sound City and Northern Electric festivals with their merciless stage performances, going on to support a tremendous range of acts such as Kero Kero Benito, Peaness, Let’s Eat Grandma, KRRUM, and more.
Still making waves in the DIY electro scene, an alchemist of remorseless beats, jarring basslines, and sprinkled with lyrics preaching truths of mental health, injustice and identity. It’s bold, brutal, and beautiful - and unapologetically so.
