Kikki Danielsson Biography
Kikki Danielsson hardly needs an introduction, the ever-discussed and now critically acclaimed queen of country music has an extensive CV that few other Swedish artists can match. With nearly fifty years in the industry, over 3.5 million albums sold, and still in the spotlight, she remains a shining star on the music scene..
She is one of Sweden's most beloved artists, and 30 years after the megahit "Bra vibrationer," she took a significant step away from the schlager world she is often associated with by releasing the album Postcard From A Painted Lady. Since then, Kikki’s focus has been on country music— it is more Loretta Lynn than Taylor Swift, more timeless than modern, and carries an earthy tone and a depth that adds another dimension to her music.
Since the release of Postcard from a Painted Lady, she has released one more album and a Christmas record, forming what Kikki now calls the Painted Lady trilogy.
This was not the first time in her career that Kikki had made a pure country album. Back in 1984, she defied her then record label boss Bert Karlsson and traveled to Nashville to film a TV show. There, she met and sang with several of her favorite artists. Her picture was placed on the Grand Ole Opry's wall, and she was named an honorary citizen of Nashville.
In May 2022, Kikki turned 70. Instead of slowing down during her anniversary year, she decided, together with longtime collaborator and friend Sulo Karlsson, to write an autobiography in diary form, Du vet inget om mig ("You Know Nothing About Me"), and to record the album Ängel med sorgkant ("Angel with a Mourning Edge") - a Swedish-language country album containing all the elements that have made Kikki the beloved artist she is today, winning fans of all ages. On this album, she returns to singing in Swedish but maintains her deep love for country music. She also managed both a church tour with her trio and a Christmas tour with The Refreshments. In 2025 she's back with new music in the autumn as well as her farewell tour "Det är nåt stort på gång".
