Saxofonist en muzikale alleskunner Benjamin Herman maakt al meer dan dertig jaar muziek en speelt over de hele wereld. Hij treedt op met zijn band New Cool Collective, maar ook als soloartiest. Zijn muziek varieert van traditionele jazz tot filmmuziek en moderne bewerkingen van Misha Mengelberg. Samen met Thomas Pol (bas) en Jimmi Hueting (drums) brengen ze live een verrassende mix uit Benjamin’s muzikale wereld. Benjamin zoekt altijd naar een eigen, herkenbaar saxgeluid. In zijn nieuwe album gaat hij verder met deze zoektocht en duikt hij in de muziek die hem als kind boeide. Met ‘Nostalgia Blitz’ brengt hij een album vol ideeën en invloeden uit het alternatieve saxofoon-universum van zijn jeugd. Met dit album daagt hij zichzelf uit om zijn spel te verbeteren en brengt hij een ode aan zijn jeugdhelden. Zijn helden Charlie Parker en Ben Webster hebben zijn muzikale smaak sterk beïnvloed.

Benjamin Herman Biography
Benjamin Herman is one of the most original and productive jazz musicians in the Netherlands exploring influences beyond the confines of the jazz world. After signing to DOX Records in 2005 Benjamin Herman produced a series of cd’s and vinyl’s. He also won his third Edison for the album Campert (featuring Dutch poet Remco Campert), He recorded and toured with Paul Weller, programmed several festivals, toured in Brazil, Argentina, Kenya, Russia, Britain, the USA, Canada, England, Ireland and Japan and worked on numerous projects in the Netherlands. In 2006 he received the prestigious VPRO/Boy Edgar Award and was voted 'Best Dressed Dutchman of 2008' by Esquire magazine.
